Hard rains

The cold front, which developed into a cold nuclei, dumped a year’s worth of snow and rain on the Atacama Region in just a couple of days. Within hours raging torrents of mud and water were rushing down narrow mountain valleys sweeping all everything in their path as far the Pacific Ocean.

Authorities believe it to be the worst disaster to hit the area in eighty years and certainly the most serious in Chile since the one of the strongest earthquakes on record ripped through the center-south of the county five years ago.
