December 2017: The National Geology and Mines Service (Sernageomin) has renewed its web site, and has added the Geological Exploration Information System (Sigex). This platform stores data regarding exploration projects in Chile.
Mr. Mario Pereira, Sernageomin Director said, “We want to become the knowledge generation.” The new web site is part of the Service’s modernization process, and its desire to improve communication with the public.
Companies required by Sernageomin should submit any georeferenced district and regional geological maps (on a scale of up to 1:10,000) that they possess for publication on Sigex, which identify zones with potential mineral deposits, indicating the projection system and global coordinate zones.
