Opportunities in the crisis

November 2016: As the fall in metals prices forces many mining companies into financial straits, many are having to sell assets and operations in order to generate cash flow just to stay in business.
This is creating opportunities for juniors, private equity and investment funds with the financial strength to take advantage of low asset prices and wait for the recovery.
In October, private equity firm Minería Activa sealed a deal to acquire 90% of Compañía Minera Pampa Camarones SA for US$18M. That means the mining company can complete the restructuring process begun at the start of the year after accumulating debts worth CLP7.5B with creditors.
