September 2016: With the mining industry now looking to the future with optimism, thirty international speakers will come together to analyze the exploration sector at Chile Explore Congress 2016, which takes place on September 7th-8th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Santiago. The event forms part of Explo Week 2016, organized by Chile Explore Group, with the aim of attracting investors and promoting the development of new mine projects in the country. The conference will include presentations on five new mineral discoveries and 13 exploration projects.

On September 7th, the conference will examine Chile’s potential in lithium, with consultant Chris Berry providing a global perspective on the industry, while other speakers will discuss opportunities in Chile and the environmental restrictions on their development. The agenda also includes presentations on the latest developments in the modelling of copper porphyries while Dr. Richard Tosdal will explain the magma fertility index for this type of mineral deposit. Yvan Crepeau, VP Exploration at Cornerstone Capital Resources, and Jason Ward, president of Exploraciones Novomining SA, will discuss Cascabel, one of the largest porphyries discovered in Latin America in recent years.

Gold will also have its place during the first day of Chile Explore Congress. Geologists, consultants and executives from Kinross Gold (TSX: K), Kingsgate Consolidated (ASX: KCN), Corescan and Fiore Exploration (TSXV: F) will focus on the potential of Chile’s leading precious metals deposits. Another panel will discuss how new innovative technologies which can improve the success rates of exploration programs. Finally, Neil O’Brien, VP Exploration and New Business of Lundin Mining (TSX: LUN), will end the day with a presentation on the discovery of the Eagle East deposit.

On September 8th, the speakers will focus on the financing of exploration projects, explaining how leading companies have survived the downturn and the advantages of Chile’s venture capital market. Kevin Heather, chief geologist of Regulus Resources, will explain the cyclical nature of the mining industry while Project Showcase will assess the region’s most exciting exploration opportunities, with presentations from Auryn Mining, Revelo Resources (TSX-V: RVL), Tinka Resources (TSX-V: TK), and Regulus Resources (TSX-V: REG).

In addition, Explo Week 2016 features a series of short courses on the principals of exploration geochemistry, prospecting with 3D models, hyperspectral mineral mapping and copper porphyry deposits. On the evening of September 7th, there will be a charity dinner to raise funds for the Mineros Contra el Cancer Foundation, featuring guest speaker Jonathan Franklin, Latin America correspondent for The Guardian newspaper and author of “33 Men”, about the San Jose mine rescue.
