Attracting junior mining companies is a pending task

May 2017: Junior mining companies represent 68% of exploration in Chile, but the lack of incentives could lead the country to stagnation.
The Chilean Copper Commission (COCHILCO) reports that the mining exploration budget for this sector has fallen to US$443.4M, which is US$172M less than in 2015. Whilst the major mining companies reduced their budgets by 25.1% last year, the junior companies did so by 57.3%, and their market share fell by 7.8%. (Read more)
