An early spring

April 2016:  After years of despondency, miners are finally beginning to look to the future with optimism. As they gathered at this year’s annual convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), the Metro Toronto Convention Center was abuzz with talk of rising share prices, turning metals markets and a flurry of deals.

The weather joined in the brighter outlook. Rather than temperatures approaching minus 20 degrees centigrade which marked last year’s event, visitors to Toronto this March enjoyed an almost balmy climate (or at least above freezing) with many daring to leave hats and jackets at the hotel.
